A few months ago, a Californian bill giving mobile operators more say in the placement of 5G cellular infrastructure was successfully vetoed by local officials who argued that “citizens should have the power to say where new, potentially unsightly equipment will be placed in their communities.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, “Governer Brown’s decision was a rare defeat for the powerful telecommunications giants on high-profile legislation.”
