Under the guise of building a strong 5G network for consumers, US bill SB 649 effectively gives the wireless industry the keys to the store at the expense of local governments’ responsibility to manage their communities.

Below is a letter by the coalition of California cities to the CA State Assembly outlining reasons for their strong opposition to the bill which “eliminates public input, full local environmental and design review, and the ability for local governments to negotiate leases or any public benefit for the installation of ‘small cell’ equipment on taxpayer funded property.”

Here in SA numerous communities are experiencing the same clamp down on the public and local government.
